“Life is dancing with the waves of emotions both the continuous pounding and crashing as they recede to the shoreline opening our hearts to an understanding not to judge but simply observe.” — Ann-Marie Downing
As we have learned during the last two years, we are bombarded with negative emotions from our social media feeds, news, and conversations with friends. Now more than ever are we aware that life is unpredictable because our sense of security and stability have been challenged in ways we had not been prepared to deal with. Many of us are finding strategies to ground ourselves emotionally and physically as we embrace a new way of being. No matter what the unknown brings, it makes the journey easier to tolerate as we huddle together in good company and know that our exhilarating and scary emotions can be tamed, as they continuously change over time and in intensity. I have saved a spot for you.
Welcome to the EMOTION GUESTHOUSE
No longer bottling our difficult emotions — Invite them all in!
Each day we are receiving many positive and negative emotions from our news feeds, social media, and conversations with family and friends about subjects including COVID, omicron virus, political and racial unrest, immigration, natural disasters, gun violence, inflation and now the war in Ukraine. Many of us have received the message from culture to bottle up these negative feelings and thoughts as we might appear to be vulnerable or weak.
A first step in healing emotional trauma and daily stressors is for us to learn that all our emotions act like lighthouses during a hurricane. We need to recognize and understand the message so if we venture out too far in the turbulent waters of emotions, we avoid emotional danger by following the guidance from the lighthouse and find our way back to a safer emotional self.
Join me, Ann-Marie Downing, as I become the captain of our ship assisting you in navigating around the rocky shoreline of life’s emotions. Once you have docked, we invite you to our Emotion Guesthouse where all emotions are welcomed and treated with compassion and gratitude. As you enter the Emotion Guesthouse be aware that “Discomfort is the price of admission to a meaningful life.” — Dr. Susan David
Join me in the Emotion Guesthouse Workshop on June 29th, 2022, from 5:30pm - 7pm.
We will share our voices, insights, courage, vulnerabilities, and compassion as we uplift and encourage each other to connect with ourselves and others. After the presentation we will delve into small groups via break out rooms and participate in large group sharing practices.
Once you reserved your spot your name will be entered in a raffle.
A zoom link will be sent to you a few days before the event.
